Elizabeth Sharrow

Elizabeth Sharrow is assistant professor of political science and history at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is completing a book manuscript on the political history of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the ways in which American politics construct our understandings of sex and gender. She is also working on several co-authored projects regarding the politics of fatherhood, the racial politics of sport, and policy beneficiary opinion toward Title IX. Her work has been published in Politics, Groups, and Identities, Social Science Quarterly, and the Journal of Women, Politics, & Policy. She has received funding from the American Association of University Women, the Social Science Research Council (Dissertation Prospectus Development Fellowship, “Contentious Politics” workgroup in 2010), the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation, the Myra Sadker Foundation, and the New England Regional Fellowship Consortium. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Minnesota with a minor in feminist and critical sexuality studies, and a M.P.P from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
