Mark Carey
Mark Carey was an International Dissertation Research Fellow (IDRF) in 2003 and was awarded an SSRC/Columbia University book fellowship in 2008. Carey is assistant professor of history at Washington and Lee University, where he specializes in Latin American and environmental history. He received the Leopold-Hidy Prize for the best article in the journal Environmental History in 2007, and won the 2009 “Rising Star” Outstanding Faculty Award, given to Virginia’s top untenured professor in teaching, research, and public service across all academic disciplines. Starting in Fall 2010, he will be an assistant professor of history in the Clark Honors College at the University of Oregon.
