Melody Devries and Noel Brett explore the ways in which human readers, like online systems, "authenticate" information they receive, checking it for trustworthiness and perceived truth, and how this interacts with notions of identity, homophily, and otherness.
Noel Brett
Noel Brett is a PhD candidate in the Computing and Software Department of McMaster University. Brett is interested in the areas of mathematics and computer science, critical algorithm studies, social systems design, and queer game studies. Brett studies the intersection of computer science and social sciences, and uses these theories to explore gaming culture, design, and how these reproduce exclusionary practices within gameplay.
