Peter J. Dougherty is director of Princeton University Press. His engagement with social science books and their authors began in 1979 when he was named sociology and anthropology editor at Harcourt Brace Jovanovich. Since then he has worked as an editor across the social sciences, primarily in economics. During his years there, Princeton has published a dozen Nobel Prize–winning economists. Currently his main editorial interest is in the scholarship on higher education.
