Welcome to Items & Issues, the monthly newsletter from the Social Science Research Council.
This month’s issue of Items & Issues explores conflict and peacebuilding, a longstanding theme of the SSRC’s work and the central focus of our African Peacebuilding and Developmental Dynamics (APDD) program. APDD advances African-led research on peacebuilding, governance, and development in conflict-affected countries and regions across the continent, with attention to the evolving geographies of conflict and inequality. The program welcomes applications for its current round of fellowships and research grants from African researchers, policy analysts, and practitioners working on these issues.
Below, we highlight research on the politics of conflict and peacebuilding, including how violence and peace intersect with cultural heritage, traditional and state authority, youth networks, and media.
